How do I stretch my dough ball into a pizza base?Updated a year ago
Ensure the dough is fully defrosted and that it has been left to relax and get up to temperature. If the dough is not ready as it has not relaxed enough, you will find the dough ball will spring back after stretching.
- Sprinkle the pizza preparation dust on your work surface to ensure the ball does not stick.
- Prepare the Dough Ball: Ensure your dough ball is at room temperature.
- Shape the Dough Ball: Gently flatten the dough ball slightly with your palm to create a disc shape.
- Begin Pressing Out: Place the flattened dough ball on the floured surface. Use your fingertips, starting from the centre, press down gently and evenly, working in a circular motion towards the edges.
- Rotate and Continue: Periodically rotate the dough to maintain an even thickness. Use your fingers to press and stretch the dough outward, gradually forming the desired size and thickness for your pizza base.
- Check Thickness: Lift the dough occasionally to check the thickness and ensure it's evenly pressed out. Adjust by gently pressing and stretching as needed.
